Baking Cookies! | ♥

Last week I spent a few days at my friend Emily's house and we decided to do some baking!
We made chocolate-Nutella cookies with marshmallows and they were delicious so I thought I'd share it with you lovely readers :-)

  • Firstly, we of course washed our hands and popped on our aprons. We then got out all the ingredients needed.

We used  4 bars of dairy milk chocolate, plain flour, 2 eggs, marshmallows and Nutella
  • We melted the four bars of Dairy Milk and mixed it with the Nutella we had left. We used around 200g of Dairy Milk and 100g of Nutella and mixed the two together.

  • We then sieved 1 Cup of Flour and added 2 eggs to the chocolate and whisked that in using a wooden spoon.

  • We then put the mixture in the fridge for 10 minutes to cool so it wasn't so sticky and then began to make the cookies. We made the cookies by making one circle, then adding 2-3 marshmallows on top and then adding another circle on top and making it a cookie with a marshmallow inside. (Sorry, that is hard to explain!)

Our "blobs" AKA a work of art!
  • We then put the cookies in the oven for around 8-10 minutes until they were hard on the outside but still very soft as that's how we wanted them. You could leave yours in slightly longer if you want them harder, just be careful they don't burn!

  • The finished cookies which - if I do say so myself - they were gorgeous! The marshmallow melted in the middle and the cookies were soft and sooooo yummy.
These cookies were so easy to make I really hope you give them a try yourself. If you do, please let me know how they turn out :-)

Are you a cookie or cake girl? What's your favourite?

My Life in Profile Pictures #1 | ♥

I saw a post on Miss Budget Beauty called My Life in Profile Pictures where she had put many Facebook Profile Pictures into one collage photo and post.. I'm taking on the idea but I am only going to post one photo every now and again, starting from my earliest profile picture, to give you a little insight into my life and experiences etc over the past few years...

This is a picture I cherish. In 2010, I went to Goa, India and was a Bridesmaid to a couple named Eddie and Fatima who we have befriended and now associate as "family" over many, many years of members of my family going to Goa and spending time with them. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and something I will remember forever.

Everyday Makeup | ♥

Cath Kidston Makeup Bag

So today I have an everyday make up look for you all. I wear make up everyday to school and at the weekends. This is one of the looks I wear frequently however I am always changing up my eye shadow and lip colour so this is just one of a few looks I wear on a day to day basis :-)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, Collection Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Seventeen Brow's that Brow kit.
Previous to make up, I moisturise and sometimes use a primer if I need my makeup to stay on for longer than usual. I begin with the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation which is a light foundation and gives my skin a nice glow. I then conceal under my eyes and on any blemishes with the notorious Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I then fill in my brows with the Seventeen Brow's that! pallete which includes a wax, a powder, a brush, an eyebrow pencil and a highlight colour. I finish my base by applying the Rimmel Stay Matte powder on my T-Zone.

Seventeen intense liquid liner, Benefit They're Real mascara, MUA Undressed Palette, Chanel Duo
I used shade 1 on my eyelids to create a plain base. I then used shade 5 as a transition colour and into my outer corner and crease. Then I took the darker shade my my Chanel palette (similar to shade 8 but more chocolate brown) and blended that shade into my crease to create a simple eye look. I then applied my liquid liner with a slight wing and the mascara as normal.

The eye make up.
Sleek Blush in Sahara, Benefit Hoola Bronzer and MeMeMe Beat the Blues Moonbeam Highlighter
I contoured my face using the Hoola bronzer. I received this for Christmas and it is completely matte and brilliant for contouring with. I highly recommend it! I added a tiny amount of blusher to my cheeks as this Sleek shade is very pigmented. I then blended the highlighter into my cheek bones.

Sorry about the peculiar lighting. My camera is a bit special.

Cutie Pie Gloss and GOSH's Lipstick in the shade Kitch
On my lips, I wore this GOSH lipstick which is a dark pinky colour and a light pink gloss over the top, just to add some shine!

Here's the finished makeup look. As I said, I wear this look on a day to day basis and I personally think it is quite natural and wearable.

I hope you enjoyed this look
Did you try it out yourself? If so, tweet me pictures at @molliemonstar or comment below :-)

Lily Flame Fairy Dust Candle | Review | ♥

Recently I was lucky enough to be bought the Fairy Dust candle from the Lily Flame range. Being such a candle junkie I was very glad I got my hands on this as usually I'm pretty boring and stick to Yankee candles so trying something new was goooooood. The Lily Flame tin candles retail at £8.50 each in a wide variety of scents, so I highly suggest you check them out :-)

My candle is in the scent Fairy Dust. It is describes on the tin as "invisible and true" as it is a light scent. On the website, it is described as "Powdery, Warm, Sparkly and Magical. In short- Fairy Dust!" and I couldn't agree more. The scent is light and sweet and reminds me of parma violets slightly. It gives a lovely scent to the room as the candle burns.

As you can see, the candle is packaged in a cute, ditsy, pale pink tin. When you first buy the candle, the appearance of the candle itself is a really cute design in a way but I've burnt mine so much now that the design has gone leaving just the candle. This candle is supposed to burn for up to 30 to 35 hours and it's recommended that it's burnt for at least 3 hours at a time to minimise the amount of left over wax.

Overall, I would rate this candle very highly. It makes my room smell fresh and sweet and also looks pleasing to the eye in my room which is important to me. I think the candles retail at a fair price and would recommend them to anybody just to try if you are looking for a new brand/scent of candle.

Thanks for reading,

Christmas Haul 2013 | ♥

Christmas was just over a week ago now and as I said in my last blog post I had a really lovely Christmas. After my birthday I did plan to do a birthday haul on my blog but never got round to it but today I am going to show you what I got for Christmas!

Just as a disclaimer, I'm not bragging in anyway, at the same time I'm so utterly grateful for everything I got, but documenting it in a blog means 1) I won't forget what I received (as once all the craziness is over it often gets put away and you can easily forget things are new) and 2) if any of you are as nosey as me, you won't mind a peek ;-)

I was going to photograph everything individually and write about it all on here but I figured that would get extremely boring. So I made a video of my presents and I am just going to list them and write about my favourites :-)

Here is the video...

My main present this year was my Kindle. I love it already! As you can see in the video it has a floral case which was a Christmas present from my Auntie. I've downloaded some free books on my Kindle such as The Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice and I'm really enjoying reading it. I also got a little clip on light which is really helpful as it means I can read my Kindle in the dark in bed.

Gahhh, I kinda want to write about all my presents because I'm just so grateful!

Presents (in order of appearance in video)

  • Kindle case
  • Kindle
  • Eyeshadow set and Seventeen Eyeliner set
  • Benefit Let's Make Lovely, Seventeen Eyebrow Kit and Lipgloss set
  • Impulse Sprays, Foundation (bought with Christmas money) and Lush bath bomb
  • Soap and Glory gift set, Nail wraps, Purse with Nail kit and Nail varnishes
  • Pamper basket
  • Burgundy jumper
  • Pyjamas, Underwear, Disco pants and a Dress
  • 'Hottie' teddies from Topshop
  • DVDS. The Great Gatsby, The Lucky One and Matilda
  • Thermal Mug and Coffee
  • Diary, pens and earphones
  • Floral Ring-binder, Pretty box and flower ornament
  • Photo frame and whirligig Photo holder
  • Morganville book, Penguin hand warmers, Mirror and Earrings
  • Candle holder, Hello Kitty purse, 50 dollars for America in October, iPod speaker, Topshop, New Look and Odeon vouchers.
  • I also was lucky enough to go see Matilda in London in November so this was part of my Christmas present as well as a ticket to go and see Rizzle Kicks in February.
  • Two Pandora charms which I forgot to put in the video...

The stocking was from my boyfriend and the stars from my best friend

I wasn't going to go ahead and list all my presents but I am so grateful I didn't feel comfortable just naming a few. As you can tell I am so grateful for all my gifts. I know this was a bit of an unusual blog post as it kind of included a video, but nevertheless I hope you enjoyed. If you want me to review any of the products or just anything in general I was given feel free to comment and let me know. x

2014 | ♥

Wow. Where did the time go?

It's hard to believe that a whole year has flew by and I'm happy to say 2013 has been good to me.

2013 brought me the bestest group of friends in the world. Ellie, Emily, Jordan and Billy and I know I am so lucky to have them. It brought it my first experience of exams and receiving some of my GCSE grades. I went on holiday to Menorca and on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads with Emily. I managed to get myself a job as well as welcome two new family members: a little puppy, Naiya and a tortoise, Matilda. I celebrated my 16th birthday with my amazing family and friends and got into a new, very happy, relationship at the beginning of December. I had a perfect Christmas, it was really lovely. Especially towards the end of 2013 I became so much happier, content with myself and satisfied with everything in my life. The school break was helpful and gave me some time to chill myself out. 2013 has been good to me, and I know 2014 will be even better.

Happy new year everyone!
I'm well and truly looking forward to whatever this year will bring :-)
